Tiny Timmy's Journey

Organized by Tiny Timmy Heal Me

August Update
Timmy has been going to acupuncture (what he calls acupooky) with a wonderful holistic vet we found, Dr. Jeffrey Judkins and the Hawthorne Vet Clinic. Rather than continually dealing with issue after issue in an emergency way, especially his poo issue, we decided this would end up being less expensive in the long run. The initial intake was $150 and each follow up is $75. He goes every 7-14 days. 14 days is about as far out as we can push it. This has helped Timmy's poo issue tremendously, but it is also helping his small muscle coordination, balance, over all energy and his climbing skills keep improving.

Now we have to figure out how to re-"Timmy Proof" the house. He can now get up to Jersey's plate of dry food, and we have to limit his dry food intake. Little rascal.

Timmy is also on several new supplements that seem to be helping as well. Salmon oil, Standard Process NeuraPlex, a homeopathic (NoxVomica - I think I spelled it right!) and continues with his ProViable, Lysine, Cosequin and S-Adenosyl.

For every acupooky session, we bring Timmy's small Milty Blanket. Immediately he calms down and is ready to be a pin cushion! It is really true! They do have healing properties.

At this point, paying his over $500 vet bill for the "blood" incident, which ended up with labs, xrays and an enema among other things, his supplements, the accupuncture and still making hefty payments to the Care Credit bill we racked up for the first several months he was here (still about $2500 left on that) the ChipIn is fairly depleted.

We estimated that Timmy's care would be about $5000 in 6 months and that's how we came up with the end date of August 31st and the $5000 amount. His bills are still quite high, over and above normal responsible pet care, but since the acupooky and new supplements has gone down. This is primarily due to NOT having to rush him urgently to the vet when something is wrong with him, which saves us much in the way of vet visit, western medicines and expensive diagnostics.

We do what we can to curb his expenses, such as taking him to acupooky every 10-14 days instead of every week and giving him one NeuraPlex a day instead of two.

Timmy continues to heal in amazing ways that no one ever thought of. He is amazing and light in our lives!!!

Thank you everybody who has support him on his Healing Journey whether through this ChipIn, auctions Myron has run, or purchasing from his Amazon Store, Cafe Press Store, a Special Edition TT Milty Blanket at the Milty Project or his own nip toy design by Catching Lizards!

We could not have come this far with him without you.
June UPDATE
It's been a wild ride this month. We woke up to blood coming from Timmy and it was all over the kitchen floor. He had slept on the bed with us, so he got up with us and immediately ran to the kitchen, ready for breakfast. He didn't even notice, but it was a lot of blood. We noticed the "trail" seemed to start part way between the bedroom and the kitchen, in the dining area on the carpet.

We rushed him to the vet. The blood is still a mystery, but it was a lucky break in a way. After an hour long exam, blood tests and a $200 X-Ray, we discovered he had stool stuck in the upper part of his intestine, with nothing in the colon. There should only be liquid in the intestine, so this was potentially very dangerous to him. On the bright side, he did not have a blockage, mega colon or any number of other things that could have caused this sort of thing.

The vet believes this condition is due to his neurological damage.

Miss Jody Slyns has donated a wonderful book about rescue / adoption and any contributor to Timmy's ChipIn in the month of June will be entered to win it.

We are continually floored by the generosity of others, helping with TT's care and giving him love and support in all forms, not just financially.

Special *headbonks* from Timmy.
May UPDATE
I wanted to let you know where your contributions have gone to and what Timmy has been up to.

Timmy is getting better and better, though he will always have some long term issues. We believe a lot this has to do with how he is being played with (consider it home grown physical therapy) and his food and supplements as well as his excellent vet care from the Uber Vet.

HE TURNED ONE!!! Since we don't know exactly when he was born, we are celebrating 30 days of Timmy Gras from May 11 to June 11!!!

Timmy gets several different supplements, and is still on pumpkin as well. We are very blessed as this new combination means he is really making great progress. His energy level has become more regulated, he climbs like a madman, his bowels finally seem to have resolved and healed, his coordination is getting much better, he can leap without crashing over and has had so many accomplishments it is mind boggling.

Much of his improvement is due to you and your generosity. We are still paying off around $4000 in debt from his medical bills from when we first rescued him. We had a very frightening run a little over 2 months ago when he was at the vets office weekly (sometimes more) for about a 6 week period and put on numerous medications, including pain relievers.

Things we have yet to raise money for (the run of vet visits and extra medications drained the ChipIn rather quickly):

* We have a base for his special climbing structure that was generously donated by Miss Nydia. We still have to attach wide climbing boards and the trick is designing it so that they can be modular and moveable so it can grow and change as his needs do. We finally think we have some ideas on how to do this. The boards will be covered with a variety of textures to help stimulate his nerves and senses.

* The biggest thing is acupuncture and chiropractic care. We recently found a physical therapy place for pets (mostly dogs and the only one in the Pacific Northwest) but feel that now that he is stable, it's time to work on his wonky leg. You can see it in his videos below, one of his legs is turned out and not quite placed right. We have heard of other animals with similar neurological issues to Timmy having great success with this.

YOU GUYS ROCK!!!
Tiny Timmy's Healing Journey
Several of you have asked that I keep my ChipIn open more long term.

For those who don't know, I am a kitty who suffers neurological and other damage from exposure to over-the-counter flea and tick products. I am not alone. The EPA has received over 44,000 complaints of damage and death to cats and dogs. The actual number is far greater, these are only the ones reported and not reasoned away. The US is also not alone in this problem. Similar products are available in Canada, New Zealand, Australia and the UK (and probably other places). I have dedicated my life to being a spokeskitty against these products.

If you are my friend, you probably already know about my Healing Journey. I have good days and challenging ones. It's a journey with many ups and downs. I wobble when I walk, have muscle spasms and temor. Some days I fall over a lot and others I pounce around an play a lot. Some days I need help going to do 'my business' and others I can do all my business myself. It all depends on how weak I feel at the time.

My peeps rescued me from a very bad place. The weren't looking for any more kitties, but couldn't say no. Had they not rescued me, the bad people were going to dump me in the forrest. That wouldn't be a surprise to you, if you had seen them push me around on the concrete like a broken Tonka Truck because they thought I looked funny when I tried to run from them. But the forrest is a very scary place for a kitty who at the time could hardly hold my head up, suffering from toxic expsoure to OTC flea and tick spray. My fur was caked with it.

I wasn't expected to live past 48 hours when I was rescued, and I have proved time and time again that no matter what, I will keep trying. I am very determined. Here I am! A fighter!

I have a wonderful vet, who I call the Uber Vet and I see a lot. Right now I need a lot of care and closely monitored healing plan. Thank to my friends who ChippedIn, I have seen a neurologist and had some more testing done. The neurologist couldn't give us any more information, but also didn't give us any unexected or not-so-good information, so it was a win and has helped with guidance in my ongoing care.

My peeps, with the help of Miss Nydia, are working on a special custom play structure/obstacle course for me. First, though I can climb up on my scratchy post, I can't get back down safely so it will be smaller and wider. It will also have lots of things for me to explore and different textures to help me process information.

Once I heal from my "tutoring" (neuter) I am going to start seeing a specialist in acupuncture and something called VOM or Veterinary Orthopedic Manipulation. We have heard of many stories of cats and dogs, like myself, who have responded well to these treatments. We are also trying to find an expert in toxic expoure of pyrethrins, pyrethrenoids and permethrin in kitties to see if they have any guidance or insight for us.

The peeps do what they can and I am on many supplements and have a special diet to help me along in my Healing Journey. However, they are on fixed and very limited income. They have most of my daily needs met. They try to find the most reputable, lowest cost sources for my supplements and medications. They purchase in bulk to save money when they are able.

This ChipIn was started to help with my care along my Healing Journey, and if possible, a little extra to help share my story and educate others. I make videos documenting my story and progress, we print cards at home to let others share my story and host a resource page on Facebook called The Official List of Toxins Killing Animals. Eventually we want to start a foundation for education, alternatives, changing laws and a fund for animals whose owners can't afford care from damage to these toxins where they would otherwise be euthanized, but that's a ways off.

LEGAL STUFF:
It's come to my attention that I must tell you Timmy is a kitty and not a non-profit corporation, so any contribution is not considered tax-deductible. I don't believe that was ever misrepresented, but legally Uncle Sam likes for it to be said nonetheless.

To Follow My Progress, look at my movies! [please rate and share them so others can hear of my story too]
